Description

This delicious Taco Bell Crunchwrap Supreme copycat recipe lets you recreate the iconic fast-food favorite at home in just 15 minutes. Featuring a perfectly seasoned ground beef filling, layers of queso cheese sauce, fresh lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, and melted Mexican cheese all wrapped inside crispy, toasted tortillas and a crunchy tostada shell, this handheld meal is sure to satisfy your taco cravings with a homemade twist.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1 cup queso cheese sauce
  • 6 burrito size flour tortillas
  • 6 fajita size flour tortillas
  • 6 tostada shells
  • 2 cups chopped lettuce
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1.5 cups shredded Mexican cheese

Instructions

  1. Cook the Beef: Heat a large sauté pan over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook, crumbling with a spatula until fully cooked through and browned.
  2. Season the Beef: Add the taco seasoning packet along with the recommended amount of water according to the seasoning package instructions. Stir and simmer until well combined and slightly thickened.
  3. Prep Tortillas: Prepare all your ingredients to have them ready to assemble. Cut the fajita size tortillas down to match the size of the tostada shells.
  4. Clean Pan: Wipe out the sauté pan and return it to medium heat to prepare for cooking the assembled crunchwraps.
  5. Assemble Crunchwrap: Lay one large burrito sized flour tortilla flat. Spread taco meat evenly on the tortilla, then top with queso cheese sauce.
  6. Add Tostada Shell: Spread sour cream across a tostada shell and place it sour cream side up on top of the cheese sauce.
  7. Layer Fresh Veggies and Cheese: On the tostada, layer chopped lettuce, diced tomatoes, and shredded Mexican cheese.
  8. Top with Smaller Tortilla: Place one of the smaller fajita-sized flour tortillas on top of the vegetables and cheese.
  9. Fold the Crunchwrap: Carefully fold the edges of the large burrito-sized tortilla over the smaller tortilla, pleating as you go to seal the wrap completely. Repeat assembly for all 6 crunchwraps.
  10. Cook Crunchwrap: Heat a cast iron griddle or large sauté pan over medium heat. Place each crunchwrap seam side down on the pan.
  11. Brown Both Sides: Cook for 2-3 minutes until a dark golden brown crust forms, then flip and cook the other side for another 2-3 minutes until evenly browned and crispy.
  12. Serve: Serve your homemade Crunchwrap Supreme hot with your favorite salsa, extra sour cream, and cheese dip for dipping and enjoy!

Notes

  • For added flavor, you can use fresh homemade taco seasoning.
  • To make assembly easier, warm tortillas slightly in the microwave for 15 seconds to make them more pliable.
  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
  • Adding avocado or guacamole makes a tasty variation.
  • Use a non-stick pan if you do not have a cast iron skillet for cooking the crunchwraps.
