Deliciously chewy Nutella Oatmeal Bars combining the wholesome texture of rolled oats with a rich, creamy Nutella layer. Perfect as a sweet snack or dessert, these bars offer a delightful contrast between crunchy crumble and smooth hazelnut chocolate spread, baked to golden perfection in just 40 minutes.
Ingredients
Dry Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups rolled oats
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste
Filling
- ½ to ¾ cup Nutella
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) to allow it to warm up while you prepare the ingredients.
- Mix Dry and Wet Ingredients: In a medium mixing bowl, combine the rolled oats, flour, baking powder, salt, melted butter, light brown sugar, and vanilla bean paste. Stir thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly incorporated, forming a crumbly dough.
- Press Base Layer: Reserve about one-quarter of the crumble mixture. Firmly press the remaining three-quarters of the oat mixture evenly into an 8×8-inch baking pan lined with parchment paper or lightly greased to prevent sticking.
- Spread Nutella: Evenly spread half a cup to three-quarters cup of Nutella over the pressed oat layer. Feel free to use more if you love a thicker Nutella layer—it’s the star ingredient!
- Top with Crumble: Sprinkle the reserved crumble mixture evenly over the Nutella layer, creating a crumbly topping.
- Bake: Place the baking pan in the preheated oven and bake for about 25 minutes, or until the top is lightly golden and crisp.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan for best slicing results. Once cool, cut into 16 bars. Store leftovers in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
Notes
- For easier slicing, cool bars fully before cutting to prevent crumbling.
- Use parchment paper in the pan for easy removal of bars.
- Nutella quantity can be increased for a richer filling.
- These bars are best stored at room temperature in an airtight container and consumed within 3-4 days.
- Can be refrigerated and brought to room temperature before serving for a firmer texture.
