Ingredients
Fish and Seasoning
- 4 (6-ounce) mahi mahi fillets
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
Avocado Salsa (suggested)
- 1 ripe avocado, diced
- 1 small tomato, diced
- ¼ cup red onion, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the Fish: Pat the mahi mahi fillets dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. Place the fillets in a large bowl and add olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Toss and turn the fillets a couple of times to ensure they are evenly coated with the seasoning mixture.
- Preheat the Grill: Heat your grill to medium heat, approximately 400°F (204°C). Lightly oil the grill grates using a brush or an oil-soaked paper towel to prevent the fish from sticking during cooking.
- Grill the Mahi Mahi: Place the seasoned fillets on the preheated grill. Cook for 4 to 5 minutes on each side, turning once, until the fish is golden brown on the outside and flakes easily with a fork. Avoid overcooking to preserve moisture and flavor.
- Rest and Serve: Remove the cooked fillets from the grill and transfer them to a plate. Let the fish rest for a few minutes to allow juices to redistribute. Serve the grilled mahi mahi topped with freshly prepared avocado salsa for a vibrant and tasty meal.
Notes
- Patting the fish dry before seasoning helps the spices adhere better and promotes even browning on the grill.
- If you don’t have a grill, you can use a grill pan or broiler as an alternative cooking method.
- Make sure the grill grates are well oiled to prevent the fish from sticking and breaking apart.
- Letting the fish rest after grilling keeps it moist and enhances flavor.
- Adjust the seasoning amounts to your preference, especially salt and pepper.
