Description

These Cajun Steak Bites are perfectly seasoned, tender, and seared pieces of top sirloin coated in a flavorful homemade Cajun spice blend. Ready in just 10 minutes, they’re an ideal quick and delicious protein-packed dish that pairs wonderfully with mashed potatoes or roasted vegetables.

Ingredients

Cajun Seasoning Mix

  • 3 Tbsp. smoked paprika
  • 1.5 Tbsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. garlic powder
  • 1 Tbsp. onion powder
  • 1 Tbsp. dried oregano
  • 1 Tbsp. cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp. fresh ground black pepper

Steak Bites

  • 1.5 lbs. top sirloin, trimmed and cubed into 1-inch pieces
  • 2 Tbsp. Cajun seasoning (from the seasoning mix above; use 2 1/2 Tbsp. for extra heat)
  • 1/2 Tbsp. butter (or coconut oil)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Cajun Seasoning Mix: In a small bowl or mason jar, combine smoked paprika, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, cayenne pepper, and fresh ground black pepper. Mix well and set aside. This mix can be stored and used in other recipes.
  2. Season the Steak: Cut the top sirloin into 1-inch cubes. Place the steak pieces in a mixing bowl and add 2 tablespoons of the prepared Cajun seasoning. Toss thoroughly to coat all the pieces evenly.
  3. Heat the Skillet and Cook: Warm a medium cast iron or regular skillet over medium-high heat. Add the butter or coconut oil and allow it to melt completely. Add the seasoned steak cubes to the pan. Let them cook undisturbed for at least 2 minutes to develop a sear, then stir or flip the pieces. Continue cooking for an additional 2 minutes or until the steak bites are golden brown and cooked to your preferred doneness.
  4. Serve: Remove the steak bites from the skillet. Serve immediately alongside your favorite sides such as mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables for a hearty meal.

Notes

  • For extra spicy steak bites, increase the Cajun seasoning to 2 1/2 tablespoons.
  • Using a cast iron skillet helps achieve a better sear, but any heavy skillet will work.
  • You can substitute butter with coconut oil for a dairy-free option.
  • Adjust cooking time slightly for desired steak doneness; less time for rare, more for well-done.
  • Leftover seasoning mix can be stored in an airtight container for several weeks.
