Ingredients
Cherry Syrup
- 2 cups frozen cherries
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla flavoring
- 1/4-1/3 cup allulose (can substitute coconut sugar or regular sugar)
Cherry Latte
- 2-3 tbsp cherry sauce (from cherry syrup recipe above)
- 1-2 shots espresso
- 3 tbsp milk of choice (almond, coconut, or regular milk)
- 2 tbsp heavy cream (regular or dairy-free)
- 1/4 tsp vanilla flavoring (optional, for extra flavor)
Instructions
- Cook the cherries: In a small saucepan over medium heat, add the frozen cherries, water, and allulose. Heat gently to start breaking down the cherries.
- Simmer the mixture: Bring it to a simmer and cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally until the cherries soften and release their juices. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla flavoring.
- Blend the syrup: Use an immersion blender directly in the pot or transfer the mixture to a blender. Blend until the syrup is smooth and well combined.
- Adjust consistency: If the cherry syrup is too thick, add a little more water to achieve your desired pourable consistency.
- Brew the espresso: Prepare 1-2 shots of espresso using your preferred method, such as a Nespresso machine, espresso maker, or strong brewed coffee.
- Froth milk and cream: Froth the milk, heavy cream, and optional vanilla flavoring using a milk frother or whisk until slightly foamy to add a creamy texture.
- Assemble the latte: Fill a glass with ice, pour in the cherry sauce, followed by the espresso, then add the frothed milk mixture. Stir well to combine all flavors thoroughly.
- Top and enjoy: Optionally garnish your latte with an extra drizzle of cherry sauce or a sprinkle of cinnamon for enhanced aroma and presentation.
Notes
- Adjust the sweetness of the cherry syrup using allulose, coconut sugar, or regular sugar to taste.
- If you don’t have a milk frother, a whisk or shaking the milk in a sealed jar can also create froth.
- You can substitute espresso shots with strong brewed coffee if needed.
- For a dairy-free or vegan version, use plant-based milk and cream alternatives.
- The cherry syrup can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
