Description

Taco Cheese Ball is a flavorful and easy-to-make appetizer featuring a creamy blend of cream cheese, taco seasoning, jalapenos, and black olives. Rolled in crunchy crushed tortilla chips and served with fresh shredded lettuce, cherry tomatoes, chips, and crackers, this cheesy dip is perfect for parties and casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Cheese Ball

  • 2 packages cream cheese, softened (8 oz each)
  • ¼ cup taco seasoning
  • 2 Tablespoons diced jalapenos, seeded
  • 1 can diced black olives, drained (4 oz)

Coating and Garnish

  • 1 cup crushed tortilla chips or Doritos
  • 2 cups shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup cherry tomato halves
  • Chips and crackers for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cheese Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese together with the taco seasoning until well blended and smooth. Stir in the diced jalapenos and drained black olives evenly throughout the mixture.
  2. Shape and Chill the Cheese Ball: Line a 4-cup bowl with plastic wrap. Spoon the cheese mixture into the bowl and form it into a ball shape. Wrap the plastic tightly around the cheese ball and refrigerate for at least one hour to allow the flavors to meld and the cheese to firm up.
  3. Coat the Cheese Ball and Assemble: When ready to serve, set a serving platter with shredded lettuce and cherry tomato halves for garnish. Place crushed tortilla chips in a bowl. Unwrap the chilled cheese ball and gently press it into the crushed chips so it is evenly coated. Transfer the coated cheese ball onto the platter with the lettuce and tomatoes. Serve alongside extra chips and crackers for dipping and enjoying.

Notes

  • For spicier heat, leave jalapeno seeds in or add extra diced jalapenos.
  • Make the cheese ball a day ahead for enhanced flavor infusion.
  • Use your favorite flavored tortilla chips like spicy nacho Doritos for extra taste.
  • Ensure cream cheese is softened to room temperature for easy mixing.
  • Serve with a variety of chips and crackers to please all guests.
