Description

This Spicy Tuna Sushi Bowl brings together the bold flavors of spicy tuna with crispy rice, fresh cucumber, and scallions for a quick and protein-packed meal. Perfect for sushi lovers, this easy-to-make dish is full of satisfying textures and sushi-inspired flavors.

Ingredients

  • 1 (5 oz) can tuna (preferably oil-packed), drained
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp sriracha
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp rice vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp toasted sesame oil
  • 1 cup cooked sushi rice, chilled
  • 1 tbsp avocado oil (or another heat-tolerant oil)
  • 1/4 cup scallions, chopped
  • 1 mini cucumber, sliced
  • Sesame seeds, chili crisp, and nori sheets for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Make the Spicy Tuna: In a bowl, combine the canned tuna, mayonnaise, sriracha, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and toasted sesame oil. Mix well and refrigerate until ready to use.
  2. Prepare the Crispy Rice: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat for 2 minutes. Add the avocado oil and allow it to heat until shimmering. Add the chilled sushi rice in large clumps, pressing it down firmly with a spatula. Cook for 3-5 minutes, or until the rice is crispy and golden brown.
  3. Assemble the Bowls: Scoop a serving of the crispy rice into each bowl. Add a generous scoop of the spicy tuna mixture on top of the rice.
  4. Garnish: Top with sliced cucumber, chopped scallions, sesame seeds, and a drizzle of chili crisp. Optionally, add torn nori sheets for an extra sushi touch.
  5. Serve: Enjoy your delicious, homemade spicy tuna sushi bowl!

Notes

  • You can adjust the level of spiciness by adding more or less sriracha to the tuna mixture.
  • For extra crunch, you can add avocado slices or pickled ginger to the bowl.
  • Leftover crispy rice can be stored in an airtight container and reheated in a skillet.
