Description

Soft Parmesan Dinner Rolls are warm, golden-brown, and subtly flavored with Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley. These classic, comforting dinner rolls are perfect as a savory side dish for any meal, featuring a tender crumb and a delicious cheesy aroma.

Ingredients

Dough Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt

Topping Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup finely shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Activate Yeast: In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, warm milk, melted butter, and sugar. Sprinkle the active dry yeast on top and whisk lightly. Let the mixture sit for 5 minutes until it becomes foamy, indicating the yeast is active.
  2. Mix Dough: Add the all-purpose flour and salt to the yeast mixture. Using an electric mixer fitted with a dough hook, mix on medium-low speed for 4 to 5 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  3. First Rise: Transfer the dough to a greased bowl. Cover it with a damp towel and let it rise in a warm place for 15 minutes until it doubles in size.
  4. Shape Dough Balls: After rising, punch down the dough to release air. Divide the dough evenly into 12 pieces and roll each piece into a ball. Arrange the dough balls in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  5. Second Rise: Cover the baking dish with a damp towel and let the dough balls rise again for 20 minutes until puffy.
  6. Prepare Oven and Topping: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Once the rolls have risen, sprinkle the tops evenly with finely shredded Parmesan cheese and chopped fresh parsley.
  7. Bake: Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 20 minutes or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Cool and Serve: Remove the rolls from the oven and let them stand for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy the soft, cheesy rolls warm.

Notes

  • Make sure the water and milk are warm but not hot to avoid killing the yeast.
  • You can brush the rolls with melted butter after baking for extra richness and shine.
  • Use fresh parsley for the best flavor and vibrant color.
  • If you want more cheesy flavor, increase the Parmesan cheese topping slightly.
  • Store leftover rolls in an airtight container to keep them soft.
