Ingredients
Beef and Seasoning
- 1 pound ground beef 80/20
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Tortillas and Toppings
- 8 (8-inch) flour tortillas
- 1/2 cup queso
- 1/2 cup shredded lettuce
- 1/2 cup pico de gallo
- 1/2 cup guacamole
Sauce
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 3 tablespoons salsa
- 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika or chipotle powder
Instructions
- Prepare the beef mixture: In a bowl, combine the ground beef with garlic powder, mixing well. Divide the mixture evenly into 8 portions and roll each into a ball.
- Heat the pan and tortillas: Preheat a skillet over medium heat and coat with cooking spray. Place one tortilla on the hot pan, then place one beef ball in the center.
- Smash and cook the beef: Using a spatula or your palm, press the beef ball flat onto the tortilla to form a thin patty. Cook for about 3 minutes without disturbing.
- Flip and finish cooking: Carefully flip the tortilla with the beef patty and cook for an additional 2 to 3 minutes until fully cooked.
- Fold the taco: Remove the cooked taco from the pan and fold the tortilla in half to form a taco shape.
- Heat the queso: Warm the queso in the microwave following package directions until smooth and pourable.
- Assemble the toppings: Spoon queso over the cooked beef, then add shredded lettuce, pico de gallo, and guacamole to each taco.
- Prepare and drizzle the sauce: In a small bowl, combine sour cream, salsa, and smoked paprika or chipotle powder. Drizzle this spicy cream sauce over the assembled tacos before serving.

- You can serve the tacos flat or folded depending on your preference.
- The sour cream sauce is spicy and different from traditional smash burger sauce; adjust the paprika or chipotle powder to your heat preference.
