Description
A simple and flavorful recipe for slow cooker green beans seasoned with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and butter or ghee. This dish offers tender, perfectly cooked green beans with minimal effort, ideal for a healthy and savory vegetable side.
Ingredients
Green Beans
- 1 1/2 pounds green beans
Seasoning and Butter
- 1 to 2 tablespoons melted ghee or butter
- 1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt (or more to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
For Instant Pot Method
- 1 cup water or broth
Instructions
- Prepare Ingredients: Rinse and trim the green beans to remove any stems or tough ends. Make sure the beans are clean and ready to cook.
- Slow Cooker Method: Place the green beans, melted ghee or butter, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper in the slow cooker. Use a spoon to toss everything together until the green beans are evenly coated with the butter and seasonings.
- Cook in Slow Cooker: Cover and cook on HIGH for 2-3 hours or on LOW for 4 to 6 hours until the green beans are tender but still slightly crisp.
- Instant Pot Preparation: Pour 1 cup of water or broth into the Instant Pot. Place the steamer basket inside and add the green beans to the basket. If you don’t have a steamer basket, add the green beans directly into the water.
- Cook in Instant Pot: Close the lid and seal the valve. Set the Instant Pot to high pressure and cook for 1 minute. When finished, perform a quick pressure release to release the steam immediately.
- Serve: Carefully remove the green beans from the slow cooker or Instant Pot. Adjust seasoning with additional salt or pepper if needed before serving.
Notes
- You can use either ghee or butter depending on your preference for flavor and dietary needs.
- Cooking times in the slow cooker may vary slightly depending on your appliance.
- If using the Instant Pot, make sure to use quick release immediately after cooking to avoid overcooking the beans.
- For extra flavor, consider adding chopped fresh herbs like parsley or thyme before serving.
- This recipe is easily doubled or halved depending on serving size requirements.
