Description
This Shrimp Grilled Cheese Gourmet is a deluxe twist on the classic, featuring tender shrimp combined with Gruyere, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheeses on buttery, crispy sourdough. A perfect balance of savory, tangy, and indulgent flavors!
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
- 1 large clove garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon lemon zest
- 6 ounces cocktail shrimp, peeled, deveined, and cooked (about 1.25 cups)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- ¾ cup grated Gruyere cheese
- ¾ cup grated mozzarella cheese
- ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
- 4 slices sourdough bread
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Melt 2 tablespoons of butter and the olive oil in a small skillet over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic and cook until aromatic, about 1 minute.
- Stir in the lemon zest and cook for an additional minute.
- Add the shrimp and heat through. Drizzle with lemon juice and transfer the shrimp mixture to a bowl to cool.
- Grate the Gruyere and mozzarella cheeses.
- Stir the cheeses into the cooled shrimp mixture along with the ground black pepper.
- Spread softened butter on the outside of each slice of sourdough bread.
- Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on the buttered side and press down lightly to ensure it sticks.
- Flip two slices of bread, buttered side down, and top with half of the shrimp and cheese mixture.
- Cover with the second slice of bread, butter side up.
- Set your air fryer to 400°F on the ROAST or GRILL setting for 5 minutes. Place the sandwiches in the air fryer basket and cook for 3 minutes.
- Flip the sandwiches and cook for an additional 2 minutes, or until golden and crispy. Add 1-2 extra minutes if desired.
- Alternatively, heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Cook the sandwiches until the bottom is crispy and golden. Flip and cook until the second side is golden.
- Remove from the air fryer or skillet and serve immediately.

- You can substitute shrimp for other seafood like scallops or crab for variation.
- Adjust the amount of lemon juice and zest based on your preference for tanginess.
- For an extra crispy crust, add a little more butter to the bread before cooking.
