Ingredients
- Filling:
- 5 tbsp unsalted butter
- ½ cup dark brown sugar
- 1 ½ cups chopped pecans
- Pinch of salt
- ¼ cup heavy cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Puff Pastry:
- 1 puff pastry sheet (thawed)
- 1 large egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Make the Pecan Filling: In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Stir in brown sugar, chopped pecans, and a pinch of salt. Cook for a few minutes until the mixture thickens slightly. Add heavy cream and vanilla extract. Stir for 1 minute and remove from heat. Let it cool for a few minutes.
- Prepare the Puff Pastry: Roll out the thawed puff pastry and cut it into 6 equal rectangles.
- Assemble the Bites: Place a tablespoon of cooled pecan filling in the center of each puff pastry rectangle. Fold the corners of the pastry over the filling, creating a “pocket.”
- Egg Wash: Beat the egg in a small bowl and brush over the tops of the pastries.
- Chill the Pastries: Place the assembled pastries on the baking sheet and freeze for 10-15 minutes.
- Bake: Bake for 15 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden and puffed up.
- Cool and Serve: Let the pastries cool slightly before serving.
