Description

Delight in these Nutella Cruffins, a perfect blend of croissant and muffin with flaky, buttery layers filled with rich chocolate-hazelnut spread. Ideal for breakfast or a sweet snack, they combine the best of puff pastry and Nutella in an irresistible treat.

Ingredients

Pastry

  • 1 package Puff Pastry Sheets (2 sheets)
  • 1 tbsp Butter, melted (14 g)

Filling

  • ⅓ cup Nutella (98.6 g)

Topping

  • ½ tbsp Powdered Sugar for dusting (3.91 g)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C) to ensure it reaches the perfect temperature for baking the cruffins.
  2. Prepare Muffin Tin: Grease a muffin tin with baking spray. For easier removal, place a small circle of parchment paper at the bottom of each muffin slot.
  3. Thaw Puff Pastry: Leave the puff pastry sheets out at room temperature for about 45 minutes until thawed and pliable.
  4. Roll Puff Pastry: Unfold the thawed puff pastry and gently roll it with a rolling pin to smooth out fold marks without making it much thinner.
  5. Spread Nutella: Spoon half of the Nutella onto one puff pastry sheet and spread evenly using an offset spatula or butter knife. Repeat with the second sheet.
  6. Form Logs and Cut: Roll each sheet of dough into a log shape. Cut each log in half, then cut each half into thirds, yielding 12 equal sections for cruffins.
  7. Place in Muffin Tin: Place each rolled puff pastry piece into the muffin slots, arranging them upright.
  8. Brush with Butter: Brush the tops of each cruffin with melted butter for a golden finish during baking.
  9. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven at 400°F (204°C) for 20 minutes until the cruffins are golden brown and flaky.
  10. Cool and Remove: Immediately after baking, remove the cruffins from the muffin tin to prevent sticking and place them on a cooling rack for 5 minutes.
  11. Dust with Powdered Sugar: Lightly dust the tops with powdered sugar before serving to add a touch of sweetness.

Notes

  • Ensure the puff pastry is fully thawed for easy rolling and shaping.
  • Use salted butter to enhance the flavor of the pastry.
  • For easier release, use parchment paper circles in the muffin tin.
  • Serve warm for the best taste and texture.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat briefly before serving.
