Description

A perfectly cooked, juicy, and tender turkey breast made in the Instant Pot, seasoned with a blend of spices and served with a delicious homemade gravy.

Ingredients

  • For the Turkey Breast:
  • 4 lb thawed boneless, skinless turkey breast
  • 2 tbsp olive oil (divided)
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 cup chicken or turkey broth
  • For the Gravy:
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Prep the Turkey Breast: Pat the turkey breast dry with paper towels. Brush with 1 tbsp olive oil. Combine paprika, Italian seasoning, thyme, salt, garlic powder, and black pepper. Rub this spice mix all over the turkey breast.
  2. Sear the Turkey Breast: Set your Instant Pot to the SAUTÉ function on high. Add 1 tbsp olive oil and 2 tbsp unsalted butter. Once the pot is hot, sear the turkey breast on all sides for about 3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  3. Deglaze the Pot: Remove the turkey breast from the pot. Pour in the chicken or turkey broth. Use a wooden spoon to scrape any browned bits from the bottom of the pot (this adds flavor).
  4. Pressure Cook the Turkey: Turn off the SAUTÉ function. Place a trivet in the Instant Pot. Set the turkey breast on top of the trivet. Seal the Instant Pot lid and set the vent to CLOSED. Cook on MANUAL HIGH PRESSURE for 24 to 28 minutes. Allow the pressure to release naturally for 10 minutes, then do a quick release for any remaining pressure. Check the internal temperature of the turkey (should be 165°F at the thickest part).
  5. Rest the Turkey: Remove the turkey from the Instant Pot and tent it loosely with foil. Let it rest for 10–15 minutes before slicing.
  6. Make the Gravy (Optional): To make gravy, set the Instant Pot to SAUTÉ again. Add 2 tbsp unsalted butter and melt. Whisk in 2 tbsp flour and cook for 1–2 minutes until lightly golden. Gradually add the reserved cooking liquid from the turkey, whisking constantly, until smooth and thickened. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Notes

  • You can use the turkey drippings for an extra-flavorful gravy.
  • Serve this turkey breast with mashed potatoes or roasted vegetables for a perfect meal.
  • Adjust the cooking time depending on the size of your turkey breast (larger breasts may need extra time).
