Description
Tender, flavorful country style beef ribs slow-cooked in a rich onion gravy with a touch of Cherry Coke for sweetness. Perfect for serving over mashed potatoes, pasta, or rice.
Ingredients
- 3 pounds country style beef ribs (see notes)
- 1 large onion, cut into chunks
- 3 bay leaves
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 package onion gravy
- 1 cup low-sodium beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 (12 oz) can Cherry Coke (see notes)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
- Prepare the Ingredients: In a Dutch oven, add the beef ribs, onion chunks, bay leaves, and minced garlic.
- Make the Gravy: In a small bowl, whisk together the onion gravy mix, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and Cherry Coke until combined.
- Combine and Bake: Pour the gravy mixture over the beef and onions in the Dutch oven. Cover and bake for 2 ½ hours.
- Finish Baking: After 2 ½ hours, remove the lid and bake for another 30 minutes or until the beef is tender.
- Serve: Remove the bay leaves and serve the beef and gravy over mashed potatoes, pasta, or rice.
Notes
- You can use regular beef ribs if you prefer, but country style ribs are more tender for this dish.
- Cherry Coke adds a subtle sweetness and richness to the gravy. If you don’t have it, a regular cola can be substituted.
