Description

Deliciously rich pecan pie filling wrapped in flaky puff pastry, baked to golden perfection for a bite-sized dessert that’s perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • Filling:
  • 5 tbsp unsalted butter
  • ½ cup dark brown sugar
  • 1 ½ cups chopped pecans
  • Pinch of salt
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Puff Pastry:
  • 1 puff pastry sheet (thawed)
  • 1 large egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Make the Pecan Filling: In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Stir in brown sugar, chopped pecans, and a pinch of salt. Cook for a few minutes until the mixture thickens slightly. Add heavy cream and vanilla extract. Stir for 1 minute and remove from heat. Let it cool for a few minutes.
  3. Prepare the Puff Pastry: Roll out the thawed puff pastry and cut it into 6 equal rectangles.
  4. Assemble the Bites: Place a tablespoon of cooled pecan filling in the center of each puff pastry rectangle. Fold the corners of the pastry over the filling, creating a “pocket.”
  5. Egg Wash: Beat the egg in a small bowl and brush over the tops of the pastries.
  6. Chill the Pastries: Place the assembled pastries on the baking sheet and freeze for 10-15 minutes.
  7. Bake: Bake for 15 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden and puffed up.
  8. Cool and Serve: Let the pastries cool slightly before serving.
