Description

A comforting and easy-to-make Cheesy Chicken Crescent Roll Bake featuring tender shredded chicken wrapped in buttery crescent rolls, smothered with a creamy garlic and oregano-infused sauce topped with melted mozzarella cheese. Perfect for a family dinner or casual get-together.

Ingredients

Chicken Mixture

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless cooked and shredded chicken
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (for mixing in chicken)
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp oregano

Sauce

  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (for sauce)
  • 10.5 oz cream of chicken soup
  • 10.5 oz milk (use the soup can to measure)

Crescent Rolls

  • 2 packages crescent rolls (8 count each)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Chicken Mixture: Place the cooked and shredded chicken into a mixing bowl. Add 1/2 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese, then sprinkle 2 teaspoons each of garlic powder and oregano. Stir thoroughly to evenly coat the chicken with the seasonings and cheese.
  2. Assemble Crescent Rolls: Unroll each crescent roll dough triangle. Spoon about 1/3 cup of the chicken mixture onto the wide end of each crescent. Carefully roll the dough from the wide end to the narrow tip, enclosing the filling completely. Repeat until all crescent rolls are stuffed.
  3. Arrange in Baking Pan: Place all the stuffed crescent rolls seam side down into a 9×13 inch baking pan, ensuring they are neatly arranged and not overcrowded.
  4. Make the Sauce: In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the remaining 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella, the cream of chicken soup, and milk measured using the soup can. Stir occasionally until the cheese melts and the mixture is warm and smooth.
  5. Pour Sauce Over Crescents: Evenly pour the warm cheesy soup mixture over the arranged crescent rolls, coating them entirely with the sauce.
  6. Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the casserole uncovered in the preheated oven for 30 to 40 minutes until the crescent rolls are golden brown and the sauce is bubbling.
  7. Serve: Once baked, remove from oven and let sit for a few minutes before serving. The crescent rolls should be golden and the mixture bubbly. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Use cooked chicken such as rotisserie or leftover chicken breast for convenience.
  • For extra flavor, you can add chopped onions or bell peppers to the chicken mixture.
  • Make sure to seal the crescent rolls tightly to prevent filling from leaking during baking.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated in the oven or microwave.
  • This dish pairs well with a side salad or steamed vegetables for a balanced meal.
