Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 bunch chopped green onions (separate greens and whites)
- 2–3 cloves garlic, minced (or 1 tsp garlic powder)
- 1 packet ranch dip mix
- 15 ounce can tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 4 cups beef broth
- 1 pound small dried pasta (e.g., ziti)
- 8 ounce cream cheese, cut into cubes
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F. Chop the green onions, separating the green tops from the white ends. Mince the garlic.
- In a large 12–14 inch cast-iron skillet or oven-safe sauté pan, brown the ground beef over medium heat, breaking it into small pieces as it cooks.
- Once the meat is mostly cooked, add the onion whites and minced garlic. Cook for another 2–3 minutes to soften.
- Add the ranch dip mix, tomato sauce, Dijon mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir well to combine.
- Increase heat to high and pour in the beef broth and dried pasta. Stir to prevent sticking and bring to a simmer.
- Cook the pasta for 5–8 minutes, or until al dente, stirring occasionally.
- Mix in the cream cheese and green onion tops. Stir until the cream cheese melts into a creamy sauce.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top of the mixture.
- Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake for 10 minutes, until bubbly and the cheese is melted.
- Remove from oven and serve warm.
Notes
- You can substitute any short pasta shape like penne or rotini.
- Adjust the garlic and mustard levels to taste.
