Ingredients
- Big Mac Sauce:
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons sweet relish
- 1 teaspoon white vinegar
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- Casserole:
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 cup white onion, diced
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 12 slices American cheese
- 32-ounce bag tater tots or potato discs
- Toppings (optional):
- Shredded iceberg lettuce
- Diced dill pickles
- Finely diced white onion
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a small bowl, whisk together the sauce ingredients until well combined. Set aside.
- In an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat, brown ground beef with diced onion. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Add prepared Big Mac sauce and shredded cheddar cheese. Stir to combine. If not using an oven-safe skillet, transfer to a baking dish.
- Layer American cheese slices over the beef mixture, then arrange tater tots in a single, even layer on top.
- Bake uncovered for 40–45 minutes until tater tots are crispy and golden brown.
- Before serving, top with shredded lettuce, diced pickles, and extra onion if desired.
Notes
- Use lean ground beef to reduce grease.
- Swap tater tots for hash brown rounds or crinkle fries for a twist.
- For a spicier kick, add chopped jalapeños to the beef mixture.
