Description

Crispy and flavorful air fryer chickpeas, seasoned with smoked paprika, garlic powder, and optional spices for a healthy and crunchy snack.


Ingredients

  • For the Chickpeas:
  • 1 (15 oz) can chickpeas (garbanzo beans), drained and rinsed
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: Pinch of cayenne for heat or a dash of cumin for earthiness

Instructions

  1. Dry the Chickpeas: After rinsing the chickpeas, pat them dry with a paper towel. The drier they are, the crispier they will become.
  2. Season the Chickpeas: In a bowl, toss the chickpeas with olive oil and seasonings (smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and any optional spices like cayenne or cumin) until they are evenly coated.
  3. Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 390°F (200°C) for 3 minutes.
  4. Air Fry the Chickpeas: Add the seasoned chickpeas to the air fryer basket in a single layer. Air fry for 12-15 minutes, shaking the basket every 5 minutes to ensure they cook evenly. For extra crispiness, cook a little longer, but be careful not to burn them.
  5. Cool & Crisp: Let the chickpeas cool for 5 minutes after cooking. They will crisp up even more as they cool.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, try adding a squeeze of lemon juice after cooking.
  • These chickpeas can also be used as a crunchy topping for salads, soups, or roasted vegetables.
