Description
Crispy and flavorful air fryer chickpeas, seasoned with smoked paprika, garlic powder, and optional spices for a healthy and crunchy snack.
Ingredients
- For the Chickpeas:
- 1 (15 oz) can chickpeas (garbanzo beans), drained and rinsed
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: Pinch of cayenne for heat or a dash of cumin for earthiness
Instructions
- Dry the Chickpeas: After rinsing the chickpeas, pat them dry with a paper towel. The drier they are, the crispier they will become.
- Season the Chickpeas: In a bowl, toss the chickpeas with olive oil and seasonings (smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and any optional spices like cayenne or cumin) until they are evenly coated.
- Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 390°F (200°C) for 3 minutes.
- Air Fry the Chickpeas: Add the seasoned chickpeas to the air fryer basket in a single layer. Air fry for 12-15 minutes, shaking the basket every 5 minutes to ensure they cook evenly. For extra crispiness, cook a little longer, but be careful not to burn them.
- Cool & Crisp: Let the chickpeas cool for 5 minutes after cooking. They will crisp up even more as they cool.
Notes
- For extra flavor, try adding a squeeze of lemon juice after cooking.
- These chickpeas can also be used as a crunchy topping for salads, soups, or roasted vegetables.
- If you prefer a different spice profile, try experimenting with curry powder or chili powder for a more exotic flavor.
